split-screen photos of Patsy Moore and Robert Downey, Jr.

7.3o.o3 :: It appears that a much-anticipated musical collaboration—between Patsy and actor Robert Downey, Jr.—will not take place, after all, due to a scheduling conflict.

Here's hoping they'll be able to join forces in the future.

Patsy is a longtime admirer of Downey's work—both in front of the camera and the microphone.

Purchase Robert's CD, The Futurist.
7.26.o3 :: Kym Cooper-Rodgers is returning, through the end of the year, to help with Patchouli Grove office affairs.

As many of you might know, Patsy's last two pop recordings also received attention in the Contemporary Christian Music market. This month, CCM Magazine—which has faithfully (no pun intended) covered that area of the industry for 25 years—celebrated its milestone anniversary with a special 'Blockbuster List' issue. Patsy was given a big "shout out" in a feature titled "5 Christian Artists Whose Albums Rank As Some of Christian Music's Best. (And It's Highly Possible That You Have Never Heard of Any of Them)". Here's what the CCM editors had to say:

If Christian music has ever had an artist worthy of being compared with the legendary Joni Mitchell, Patsy Moore is probably the one. Her first release, in 1993—called Regarding the Human Condition—is full of insightful lyrics, delightful folksy-pop melodies, warm vocals, and a spiritual depth that was neither calculated nor market-driven. If you ever find one of Patsy's out-of-print CDs floating around, pick it up!

There's also a "1oo Albums You Need to Own" category. Kim Hill's Talk About Life makes the list; Patsy wrote the title track!
6.3o.o3 :: Former Patchouli Grove staffers, Kym Cooper and Dennis Rodgers, wed yesterday. A big, fat 'congrats' to a couple of stellar people. May you live long and prosper!
6.11.o3 :: It's officially ONE MONTH 'til the big show! Reserve your seat, today! Click HERE for details!
6.o6.o3 :: Patsy's "Doug, June, and the Beautiful Strangeness of It All" has been loaded onto our ESSAYS page. Also, look for our Artists' Book Mart, coming soon and sponsored by the good people of Barnes and Noble! Plus, there are some new, great-looking, Brian Parker-designed wares (and wears) in our ONLINE STORE .
6.o3.o3 :: We've been selected, by Cool Site of the Day, to be their featured 'Cool Site' for June 7, 2oo3! That day, visitors will have an opportunity to vote for us as one of their favorite online spots. The higher we're ranked, the better our chances of being nominated for Cool Site of the Year. From there, we can continue our plan to rule the world. Just kidding. Sort've.
5.23.o3 :: Starting Sunday, May 25, event tickets and advance CD/DVD orders are available for THE MOST PRIVATE CONFESSIONS OF SAINT CLAIR: PATSY MOORE LIVE IN LOS ANGELES—PM's first recording in a decade! Write to us for details. Also, Cara, from Phoeniz, AZ, wanted to know what Patsy's current top ten favorite TV shows are. The answer can now be found on our PAGE OF LISTS. Thanks for writing, Cara! 2.o4.o3 :: You can now hear Patsy's music on our site. Visit THE LISTENING BOOTH when you're jones-ing for some tunes or if you'd like to purchase any by our Web site's namesake.
12.o9.o2 :: It was always our intention to create something more than a Here's-What-Patsy's-Doing site; we wanted to assemble an online community for visionary artists to promote their works and be available to one another. We're several steps closer to seeing that happen. Last week, alone, the following things occurred:
A. We joined forces with some established companies in order to offer you superior products and services. (More are on the way!)
GLOBAL GALLERY was founded by Grant Henley and presents high quality fine art prints and posters in a logical, stylish, and user-friendly manner, creating a functional and simplified environment, while maintaining the highest standards in customer service. We're not talking low-quality, high gloss posters, here. Global Gallery continues to build new relationships with a variety of publishers (in order to expand their product base) and give customers a comprehensive selection of high quality prints, posters, and lithographs from which to choose. There are, currently, thousands of titles within their database, and images are added daily. It's a perfect online stop while you're shopping for the holidays and the prices are great! Go to our FULL PRESS page and you'll see an animated banner that will take you to our new associate, Global Gallery!

MUSIC 1 2 3 is a leading online retailer of musical instruments, accessories, software, and sheet music. It's helping to transform the global musical instrument retail market. Launched in early 1997, it sells a full line of instruments (with the current exception of pianos and organs) to musicians, schools and other institutions. It carries an unparalleled selection of brands because top manufacturers have continually recognized it as a pioneer in serving and selling to customers on the Internet. Music123 is one of a handful of dealers that has been given difficult to obtain online franchises by manufacturers such as Fender, Gibson, and Yamaha. This company was born out of Zapf's Music, the largest independent retailer in the Philadelphia area. Zapf's was founded by Sofian Zapf—a master violinmaker—and his father, Leonard, in 1928. They started on the ground floor of their row house! By the 194os, Sofian and Leonard had enlarged their store and developed a reputation for peerless service and quality in the Philadelphia market. Then, as now, Zapf's Music bought, sold, and repaired new and used instruments. In the 196os, Sofian's son Erik began expanding into new locations and created a school rental program. It has a fantastic 5 Point Value Proposition involving price, expert advice, service, selection, and convenience. Go to our LISTENING BOOTH and you'll see an animated banner at the top of the page that will take you to our new associate, Music123!

TONOS is an online musician's network founded by Oscar/Grammy winning lyricist Carole Bayer Sager, Grammy winning producer/composer David Foster, and Grammy winning singer-songwriter/producer Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds. Built for musicians, it's the ultimate online destination for creating music, collaborating with others, showcasing your work to the industry and the world, and having all the tools, tips and services needed to further your career. As Tonos continues to grow a global community of musicians (with every style and level of accomplishment), it's dedicated to becoming the most collaborative musical network on the Internet. (FYI: The word "tonos" is Greek, and is used to describe the way that musical notes come together and move apart on a scale.) Go to our DISCOGRAPHY page and you'll see an animated banner that will take you to our new associate, Tonos!

B. Patsy began constructing a small and savvy board of advisors who represent the many arms of the arts. These folks are at the top of their fields and/or at the top of their games. We have no doubt that their contributions, to the evolution of patsymooreDOTcom, will be invaluable.

C. We expanded our borders. Literally. A couple of our frequent (and extremely cool) visitors from deep in the heart of Paris [That would be France, not Texas] have expressed a sincere interest in making this a truly international venture. Talks are underway for the most effective and innovative ways in which to do so.

D. The invites began going out, to our illustrator friends, to design graphics for use on items in our online store. There are guidelines and there are, definitely, INCENTIVES! 'Wanna try your hand at dressing up one of our tee shirts, sweatshirts, bags, hats, mousepads, mugs, calendars, greeting cards, postcards, lunchboxes, wall clocks, small (16x2o) posters, stickers, tile coasters, Frisbees, barbecue aprons, picture or license plate frames? Write to us! We'll send the details to you right away!
Maestro Award symbol

1o.12.o2 :: We've been nominated for a Maestro Award of Excellence, prestigious recognition for Web sites/masters surmounting the highest levels of design and attaining an authoritative level on a particular subject or subjects. A big thanks to the one who nominated us, and we'll keep all of you posted as things develop. (Of course, it's an honor just to be nominated...)

1o.11.o2 :: "Rooms" within the patsymooreDOTcom Gallery are gradually being "opened to the public". To "stroll through", now, you need only click here: THE GALLERY. Links also appear on each page of this site.
9.28.o2 :: New full-length articles are here! More are being formatted and will be uploaded soon. To read them, go to the FULL PRESS section of our Music portal or you may click either of the two links provided below.

ARTICLE 1: "An Informed Match" by Zan Stewart (LA Times)
ARTICLE 2: "The Second Coming of a Reluctant Icon" by Finn Degnan (ArtFull Online)
9. 26.o2 :: patsymooreDOTcom's been awarded the distinction "2oo2 Community Web Site of Excellence" by the Arundel Organization, West Sussex, UK. The Excellence award considers sites for interest, content and quality. We were recognized for being "a leader in our field". Thanks to Arundel and whomever nominated us!
9. 25.o2 :: Among the new pages still being added to this site is something we think is pretty fun. It's called THE GROVE and it's patsymooreDOTcom's exclusive comic strip, documenting PM's encounters with a host of amusing characters. Check out the latest installment!
9. o1.o2 :: Patsy has joined creative forces with guitarist/songsmith Maria Hobbs. The two will write for and produce various artists.
photo of Maria Hobbs

Hobbs—who began playing guitar at age 15—attended LA's renowned Musicians Institute in later years. She has accompanied a vast array of artists including Cree Summer, Macy Gray, Nedra Johnson and Medusa, although the versatile player is probably best known for her anchoring roles in the oft-praised West Coast bands Strangefruit and Only Child. Maria also contributed to the soundtrack of the 1995 2oth Century Fox film Strange Days, starring Ralph Fiennes and Angela Bassett.

Take a look, now, at some of the artists with whom Patsy Moore and Maria Hobbs are working...and whose currently untitled projects will be featured on this site in the near future.

photo of Connie Tennison-Rouse

Connie Tennison-Rouse introduced her cabaret act to sold-out audiences at Boombala's night club, located in her hometown—Chicago. She went on to amass an equally impressive following at The Windy City's Pump Room in the historic Ambassador East Hotel. Presently a solo performer at Birds of Paradise in Long Beach, California, Connie is also a member of Long Beach's South Coast Chorale. She has sung at The Sky Room, The Carpenter Performing Arts Center, The Orange County Performing Arts Center, The Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, and The Terrace Theatre—all well-known Los Angeles area venues.

A live music veteran of 15 years, Connie deftly interprets jazz, blues, and pop standards and claims to have been most inspired by Billie Holiday, Etta James, Miki Howard, and Carole King.

The writing/producing team of Moore and Hobbs is delighted to be collaborating on several tracks of spare, organic recording with unconventional instrumentation, calculated to spotlight Tennison-Rouse's smoky vocal styling.

photo of Christopher J.

Christopher J. (Spinks), a native of Lorain, Ohio, has called Los Angeles home for the past several years. Since arriving on the West Coast, this quadruple threat (vocalist/songwriter/pianist/trumpet player) has performed backup vocals for a number of artists, including Johnny Gill and Billy Preston. As a member of the group Traverse, he was a Star Search '95 semifinalist. That exposure opened the door to a variety of solo ventures—among them a monthly showcase of his exceptional talents at Lulu's Beehive in Studio City, California.

J.'s first project focused on original jazz and Adult Contemporary music. Presently, producers Moore and Hobbs are creating harder edged tracks for him—a clear nod to early '7os 'glam rock' (à la David Bowie's Ziggy Stardust period) to further explore the distinctive soulful voice, heartfelt lyrics, and passionate delivery that will certainly secure Christopher J. an entertainment industry foothold for many years to come.
